YOUR JOURNEY BEGINS
UCAS opens for registration in May 2022 for entry in September 2023. Time to start your journey.
With 162 universities to choose from, and more than 50,000 courses. Making your choice of what to study and selecting a university can seem very daunting. Especially with the UCAS university application deadline to consider.
Choose your subject
This is one of the biggest choices you will make. Here are some tips to help you make the right choice:
For most students, their degree choice is a balance.
Some students have known for a long time what they want to do. However, if you are struggling to decide, you can do some research on the internet and speak to an experienced careers counsellor or professional.
If you still can’t decide, you could consider a more flexible course or joint honours. You can also pick a course with time abroad or work experience.
Pick the right university
Pick a great university and course
There is a lot of data available, including course rankings, teaching ratings and employability statistics.
Go somewhere you will be happy
From the bright lights of a London campus, to a small campus in the countryside with accommodation on site, the location you select will shape your student experience. Do your research and try to visit different universities.
When you visit, speak to existing students and lecturers
How do they structure and teach the course? Ask about how they provide support to different aspects of your learning.
Submit a successful application
Now you have decided your course and which universities to apply to, ensure you complete your UCAS form correctly and consider who you want to write your school reference. You will also need to write an excellent personal statement:
TIP 1: Read the personal statement guidelines.
TIP 2: Look at examples of personal statements in your chosen subject area.
TIP 3: Start writing!
TIP 4: Be honest about your achievements.
TIP 5: Balance your academic and personal achievements.
Make sure someone reviews your application form for you in plenty of time for the UCAS university application deadline.
