So what is a UCAS application? It stands for Universities and Colleges Admissions Service. It is the UK system through which the majority of students who want to study an undergraduate degree in the UK will apply. Each year UCAS handles around 2.8 million applications and UCAS personal statements from 700,000 UK, EU, and international students.

UCAS application deadlines

To prepare for entry to top universities in the UK, applicants should start considering their options and planning well in advance. UCAS deadlines are strict and require a strong UCAS personal statement that demonstrates the breadth of your skills gained at school, work, and voluntary placements. The UCAS application deadline for most courses is 15th January. However, applicants for Oxford and Cambridge or those applying for medical/dentistry/veterinary science courses, need to apply by 15th October. Some art and design courses have deadlines at the end of March.
