Study costs in Russia

Compared to other European countries, the cost of studying in Russia is low. This is due to the government subsidising Russia University fees for international students by up to 70%. The tuition and accommodation fees in a student hostel can be as low as £2,000 per academic year. Depending on the course language, chosen specialty and university. This can be particularly appealing for courses such as medicine which can be prohibitively expensive in Europe and the US.

As an international student you will be required to undergo pre-course training at a Russian University.  If your academic achievement is outstanding. You can apply for a scholarship to cover your tuition fees, accommodation and medical insurance.

Study in Russia - requirements

Whilst there are many courses taught in English you can also study in Russian. Many Russian universities offer a 1 year preparatory course to enable you to quickly reach the required standard. If you do want to study in Russia in English the good news is that there are no IELTS or TOEFL entry requirements.

You will need a visa to study in Russia and once you have accepted by a Russia university, they will file a student visa application on your behalf.  This will last for 3 months. Once you’re in the country, you will need to apply for an extension if you’re planning to study for longer than this period.
