University Preparation Summer School

Making successful applications to university

Uni Direct runs bespoke summer schools aimed at students who are 16 to 18 years old and are considering their university choices. Our course is delivered by tutors with extensive experience in higher education and provides you with the knowledge and skills you need to apply to university and begin your studies with stronger academic study skills.

Each summer school runs for 5 days, combining university application advice and study skills development, including visits to two local universities. Whilst the focus is on learning, we also include daily fun activities delivered in a friendly and safe environment.

This course will help you decide what degree you would like to study and how you can apply to university in the UK. We will support you to choose both the right course and location. You will gain a lot from discussing your career aspirations with our experts, both in group and one-to-one sessions. Whilst our focus is on studying in the UK, we will help you consider other options for English speaking degree courses elsewhere in Europe. With our guidance, we will help you plan how to produce a winning university application, covering areas such as when to apply, and supporting you in writing an excellent personal statement.

Developing the academic skills to succeed

During the second part of the course, our study skills sessions will also help you improve the quality of your essay and report writing, presentation skills, analytical thinking, research skills and comprehending your own learning style. This will help provide you with the tools you need to achieve the necessary grades to get into your preferred university, and introduce you to the methods needed to succeed when you start your studies.

During this summer school, you will also spend time at the University of Exeter and Falmouth University to learn more about university life.

This course also involves a range of fun activities to ensure, as well as a great learning experience, you also have an enjoyable time.
