University summer schools
Uni Direct's summer school programme provides a unique opportunity to learn from professionals in a fun environment, giving you intensive tuition in small groups. At the same time, you can make friends from all over the world.
Our unique university summer schools take place over a five day period with three separate schools running each year:
- ‘University Preparation’ Summer School - you will gain an in-depth understanding of the various study options available, as well as how to complete and submit a successful university application. The programme will help you enhance your study skills to succeed at university.
- ‘Moving to University’ Summer School - for students coming from overseas, you will learn about British culture, practical tips for living in the UK, as well as developing a range of study skills.
- ‘Succeeding at University’ Summer School - you will learn a range of study skills and research techniques covering all areas of your studies including, how to succeed in your exams, essays and your dissertation.
We work in small groups, allowing us take a personal and interactive approach to each summer school, using group based learning and one-to-one mentoring sessions.
For each summer school, in a typical day there are morning, afternoon and evening sessions. Each of these sessions encourages a fully participatory approach to learning.
Summer school activities
Our summer schools take place in Cornwall, in the UK, which is a beautiful place to visit. The beaches and coastline are amazing, making it a top holiday destination and a great place to ensure you have an enjoyable time during your stay. Our courses are unique. To create the right balance, we include a range of exciting summer school activities, such as water sports (surfing and stand-up paddle boarding) and opportunities to explore Cornwall's wonderful natural and cultural heritage. In an evening session, we might take you to experience an outdoor theatre built in to the coastal cliffs or perhaps enjoy a traditional music band. Of if you prefer, you can of course take some time out to relax and get ready for the next day.
If you are travelling from overseas, Cornwall is easily accessible with three flights a day to and from London and other UK cities and there are also good rail and road connections. Also, as a part of each of our courses, you can extend your trip with one of our home stay options, where you can stay with a family for a week to build your confidence in English, and experience family life.
We can discuss the practical details with you, but rest assured our focus is on providing an exciting learning environment in our summer schools, where you can make new friends and have fun at the same time.
