How can I secure and EU student Scholarship to study in the UK?

Uni Direct works with a lot of European students who are asking us how Brexit will affect their tuition fees in September 2021. Whilst Brexit will see tuition fees increase at many universities, Uni Direct has a range of university partners who are now offering a EU student scholarship of a large fee discounts to EU students to reduce university tuition fees for September 2021 entry. Several universities are offering an EU student scholarship back to pre-Brexit levels of £9250 a year, or very close to this figure. Can I still get a student loan?

Brexit does unfortunately effect access to UK Student loans (government loans from the UK), however, in several countries such as Sweden and Norway, it will not alter your ability to access finance in-country and use it to study in the UK. For example students from Sweden can, in addition to an EU student scholarship, still get their CSN loans to pay their tuition fees and living costs to allow them to study in the UK.

Will I need a visa?

Yes, there are new visa requirements to study in the UK for students from the EU. However, you need not worry for EU students in particular the process is straightforward and won’t stop you working part-time for up to 20 hours a week to help with your finance. This is the same for all students now – European and international students who study in the UK.

Can I get an EU student scholarship from all universities?

For students who want to study niche subjects like medicine and dentistry, and at universities like Oxford and Cambridge, they will not offer the same reduction in tuition fees. However, and EU student scholarship is available for most subjects at an undergraduate Bachelor’s entry level and postgraduate Master’s level at a large number of universities.
