‘Are you curious, innovative and a team player? If so the creative industries are for you’.
I had the great pleasure of interviewing Professor Anne Carlisle, vice chancellor and CEO of Falmouth University. Professor Carlisle is redefining the traditional view of studying an art and design degree.
Professor Carlisle is a leading light in transforming the provision of the degree courses in the creative industries, ensuring her graduates have the tools to build exciting careers in this growth sector.
This new approach to studying for a degree in the creative industries actively encourages students from a wide range of backgrounds. As Professor Carlisle reflects:
‘You don’t have to draw to be in the creative industries, you just have to think.’
Falmouth University has undergone a radical transformation over the past few years, with huge investments in the facilities and teaching environment. However, what has really struck me from the feedback we have had from students is the unique student experience they create. This is, in part, achieved by embedding links with industry across the degree programmes or as you will hear everywhere at Falmouth University, they are
‘doing it for real.’
